My DS, who is going into teaching, received an offer from his first interview and he accepted it. I knew he wouldn't have a difficult time finding a job. The job is at a private high school and we had heard that their salaries were significantly less than what he would earn in public school. Yes, the offer was less but just slightly and he most likely will have better working conditions (better behaved students, no students significantly below grade level.)
Teachers are in high demand. My nephew with a grad/MS from Hopkins got affected by the Fed hiring freeze. He is temporarily working as a HS teacher (finding misery in a class with way too many kids and no discipline--wild). They are losing teachers everywhere and there is a big need. He is doing it for $/health benefits-teaching APs he's dedicated but disillusioned with no support--his aid never shows up, etc.
