Thanks everyone! So I would love to be able to train her not to do this (okay so probably 15 minutes was an exaggeration - it’s probably 5 that feels like 15). She barks very loud when anyone comes to the door, sometimes jumps on them a little. Then she retreats once she’s used to them. But does it again when someone else comes or that same person comes on another day. Other than that, she only barks slightly once to be let out or if she needs water. Never on walks or anything like that. I would love to train her just to come get us when someone is at the door! I like that she’s our doorbell, but I don’t like that she barks at people at the door.
If her recall is solid, this is easy to train. Have a helper knock/ring the doorbell, then call your dog to you. Treat when she gets to you, and walk back with her to the door, where she should sit, quietly, while you greet your "guest". Repeat until it sticks. Don't open the door if she's barking, don't let her stay at the door barking; she needs to come to you.
