Good god. We were in legal action against our district at the time we moved to a different district and the director of sped at the original district sent a letter to the new district saying we would be trying to get IDEA eligibility but they already knew he wasn't eligible (reason for the legal action that was started before we moved, and new district started preparing for eval before we even asked, when they got his records). I didn't see the letter until a few years later, but the district we came from had teachers saying things like special needs kids should be in private schools or home schooled not in public school, and sped people who insisted that sped kids should never be expected to earn better than a C. Op here. Yes this is very similar to what we experienced. Our autistic child needs help interpreting certain things but is very intelligent. I will send a letter to my child’s new school letting them know what we experienced.

I heard from other parents since posting this that they are planning legal action against the school for similar reasons. I’ll be speaking to the director to bring a formal grievance against the director and the advocate. I think they’re unlikely to be at the school for very long anyway but I appreciate the heads up. I meant I’m speaking to the director of the school about the director of special education.

Im also considering suing the advocate for fraudulent inducement personally. I think she would love to pay attorney fees since I had to pay for them due to her behavior. [/quote]
