I am headed to Copenhagen for spring break in a few weeks and am working on my itinerary. My kids are 6 & 9. We visited Copenhagen back in 2023 and absolutely loved it!! This time we will have 6 nights in Denmark (7th is our 1st night flying into Copenhagen) so 5.5 actual days. My parents are coming and they are lower energy than us so they may hang back for some things and do not plan on coming to Billund. I had to pick the very last 2 full days for billund because of when things are open. We could potentially spend 2 nights in Billund so go the night before we go to the Lego House and then return late our last full day after going to legoland OR spend 2 nights with our 2nd night our very last night in Denmark and take a very early train to Copenhagen for our flight but that feels more risky even though we'd only be 2.5 hours away. Has anyone been to Billund and done alllll the things?? It looks like kid heaven and my kids are massive lego fans. Here's what I've got so far - please help tweak my itinerary and give suggestions :) day 1 (half-day): Perhaps go down to Nyhavn and start to get a feel for Copenhagen walking around, ect. or find a nice park to hang out at or something else??? day 2 (1st full day): breakfast at a local cafe and then perhaps this would be the better day to go to round tower, nyhavn, canal cruise, national museum of denmark.....OR breakfast and experimentium museum followed by something else day 3: Roskilde- viking ship museum & cathedral day 4: open -tbd (could be experimentium) day 5: Train early to Billund (I guess actually Vejle), hopefully we can drop luggage off at the hotel - hotel legoland before going to the Lego House and getting a meal at the Mini chef restaurant (I need to make a reservation asap). day 6: Legoland amusement park & then take a late train back to Copenhagen day 7: Fly out like 12:30 pm Copenhagen. Thanks!
If willing to share, what did you do in Copenhagen for your first trip?
Sure! My first trip we went to Tivoli gardens, National Museum of Denmark (really great kids play area and they had a fun scavenger hunt that my kids loved), Rosenborg castle, Copenhagen Zoo, nyhavn & the shopping district there, canal cruise, Christmas markets, ice skating twice, multiple awesome playgrounds, cafes, I think that's mostly it.
