My DH was driving under 70 on 66 where it changes from 65 down to 55. He got a speeding ticket for 70/55 and wants to go to court to dispute it. He swears up and down that he never went over 68. The cop was pacing him, not a radar. There is no real "proof" either way. Is there any chance the judge will lower the ticket? Should he dispute it?
Definitely challenge it. Sounds like the cop made it up. Police are allowed to lie to help the prosecution. Have him or his lawyer ask for any discovery from the DA's office or traffic court prosecuting attorney. There likely won't be any, or perhaps a dash or body cam video. Reassess then.
