He is telling people to have faith. We will survive Trump. And yes of course some Democrats are also religious, just as many Republicans are atheist. Now for your review of 6th grade social studies: Separation of Church and state means the government cannot establish an official state religion or prevent anyone from practicing their own religion. Remember, we were separating from England which established the King as head of the one official Church of England and Head of the State; and also persecuted those who did not go along with that (sir Thomas More ring a bell? Sir Thomas More (1478-1535), English lawyer, judge, social philosopher, author, statesman, theologian, and noted Renaissance humanist, was beheaded for refusing to accept King Henry VIII as head of the Church of England). they also persecuted those who practiced other religions, forcing them to do so in secret. We said, no more of that nonsense. Our Constitution does not prohibit members of government from practicing or speaking of their own religious beliefs or from ever saying the word "God"; that would be literally the opposite of religious freedom.
+1. Religious Americans have the same freedom to vote, speak, and serve as elected officials based on their beliefs as anyone else.
If you read dcum posts, you would think the very opposite. Many posters here believe that elected officials cannot speak about their religious faith or practice their religion. Oddly, when a democratic official speaks about his faith, everyone is cool with it.
