They could just shut it for safety reasons, since so many people need saving and/or ruin the delicate ground when they go off-road. Make sure you have trip insurance. If they do close and you need an alternative, Palm Springs is nice at that time of year and Joshua Tree NP (being less deadly) may be less likely to close.[/quote]
