If you are wondering if your kid might be eligible, ask yourself if your kid would have a long shot capability to become a Rhodes Scholar, Marshall Scholar, Truman Scholar, prominent STEM researcher, academic, or politician.  Regardless of actual outcomes, that's the vibe that is generally sought out.  If you read the alumni magazine, you'll note some very impressive successes from grads who were "ordinary".  So the Chancellor's Scholars need to project qualities around campus that make it clear why they were chosen.

In my time, the Chancellor's Scholars were quirkier but the candidates have undoubtedly strengthened along with the base population's SAT and GPA metrics.[/quote]
