CA, NJ, NY all have higher income tax rates. Tax burden is lower in DC for a middle class family than NoVA or MoCo/PG once you take into account income tax, property tax, sales tax, etc. As the PP shows, DC is less reliant on federal transfer dollars for education (11%) than the average state (14%).[/quote]
