I’ve never heard DC complain about a teacher until this year. She has had her share of semi competent or not so nice teachers, but she always talked about them with so much maturity, and made the best of the situation. 
However, she had been telling me about one of her teachers this year who truly seems to hate her job. The teacher constantly yells, never speaks in a nice tone, puts down the kids on a regular basis and also humiliates them when they ask questions or seem to “bother her”. DD told me that on Monday, she asked her a question and the teacher’s tone was so intimidating that she got even more confused, the teacher got impatient and she started taunting her about where she should find the answer or resources without just telling her where to find it. DD told me she had tears welling up in her eyes during the interaction. Friends told her later that the teacher was just so mean to her, she should have talked back. 
I am a teacher myself and while students drive me nuts sometimes, even though I get irritated, I maintain my composure. They’re children after all. I told her to talk to her advisor, or to tell her classmates (no one likes that specific teacher) to all mention it to another adult at school. She is reticent to my ideas. 
WWYD? Would you intervene? In what way?[/quote]
