I believe that yes, 1st semester grades go in the packet. However from what you describe I would be slightly more worried about the HOPE than the report card. Kids get low grades in AAP in behavior all the time from what I've heard from teachers. But the HOPE score is the single biggest predictor of whether a kid gets in or not, and if this teacher doesn't like your DC that will be an issue. At our school it's AART, 1st grade, and 2nd grade teacher together who work on the packet (not sure on HOPE), but every school is different. So 1st grade teacher's high opinion of your DC may or may not help. The best triage you can probably do is collaborate with the teacher to reinforce at home the need for focus. Also 132 is definitely not bottom of the range of kids admitted to AAP.
Thank you. To clarify, she likes DC and said really good things at our last meeting, but it seems very recently she noticed DC was chitchatting a bit too much during class instruction. re: the test score, it's hard to know what's competitive when so many people post v. high scores here. DC wasn't in pool in our elementary, fwiw. VAALLS was 719 and I-ready consistently high in 99th. Did my best to assemble strong parent forms/work samples but no idea if it's what they were looking for...
