Better greens and blues at Whitetail. Blacks more challenging at Liberty. The blues at Whitetail are much better. Much longer runs and steeper.
OP here. This is how it looked to me. More greens and blues, which is what we ski. Are some of the blues easy or are they all very steep?
IMO they are all on the steeper side of blues and longer than liberty. Because they are all on the same section of the hill they are all pretty similar. I would say angels drop to homerun is probably the least steep of the blues. What runs do you ski at Liberty?
I only do greens at Liberty with my younger daughter. And I'm a chicken - I even hate that one big turn on Dipsy Doodle. DH will ski all the blues and single blacks. Our older daughter is getting more comfortable with blues and will sometimes connect upper Dipsy Doodle to Whitney's Way and Lower Heavenly. I think they are fine at either place. I guess I am wondering if Whitetail has more greens. Liberty is really boring on greens.
WT does not have more greens. Unless you count the beginner area. WT has sidewinder which is a gentle long green. The other green, snow park is a good bit steeper. If the kids enter into the blue area at Liberty via dipsy and not the upper part then they will not be ready for the blues at WT. WT blues are a lot steeper and longer than any blues at liberty. Snow park at WT is a good in between to go from greens to blues at WT. have you all done lessons? I find lessons helped me progress a gain confidence.
Thanks. Sounds like we should stick with Liberty. We also like Massanutten. I actually don’t like to ski at all but someone has to ski with my younger daughter so that DH and older daughter can do harder stuff so I’m stuck. We have and do take lessons, usually privates, but we only ski 1-2 days a year so you don’t make much progress.
It doesn’t sound like anyone in your family, even your DH and other child, are ready for the blues at WT
If you're looking for variety, one can certainly consider Whitetail and Roundtop for resorts near DC. Whether it's worth the extra trek/drive to Seven Springs, Wisp, then yeah, i think that's questionable given the amount of skiing your family does.
