I'm 57 and just started on Mylan (progesterone) for heavy periods. (Already tried Lysteda, had a surgical fibroid myomectomy, iron infusions for anemia). Periods are still super painful but maybe a smidge less heavy and more spacing between. Hoping I can get off this pill in next 6 months and be in menopause...
Would you be willing to share a bit more? Have your periods been (extremely) heavy for a long time? Also, after 50, it seems that hysterectomy is recommended (pushed) far more than myomectomy or BC. Has that been your experience as well? I realize BC and HRT taken pre-menopause often can't help with symptomatic fibroids, but without knowing if menopause is just around the corner or years away, it can be difficult to decide next steps.
