DC has been on a travel team for a couple of years. Unfortunately, she will need to spend more time on her primary sport next year. Are there any teams or programs in the MD/DC area that are suited for kids who play soccer as a secondary sport? We are looking for a team or program that practices 1-2 times per week, has 1-2 games each week, and doesn’t have a strict attendance requirement. She has done recreational soccer before but didn’t enjoy the level of competition. Thanks!
You sound like the ideal parent of any soccer club. Why not stay at the same club and have her moved to a lower team? If DCUM is correct, the lower teams are there to fund the club and there is no expectations. If your DC wants to be on a top team, attendance is strict or they don't play.
As you get older, that's basically any team lower than the first team. Seriously, by mid-late HS. It's frustrating. Just RSVP and nobody will be angry--that way they can fill spots in time with players w/in the club. It's the 'no response', no shows that are a PIA---particularly when you are going to travel or try to register for a tournament. Be upfront right away. My kid plays on a second team of a big club in HS for a similar reason and we are sure to rsvp right away to everything---practices, future tournaments, games, etc.
