One is that they hire many teachers, and being able to stay home with your own kid when school is closed is a benefit they offer. As someone who has hired for these positions, snow days is something I got asked all the time in the time between the offer and the acceptance. The other is that liability wise, it's safer to be able to show that you didn't make an independent decision. [/quote]
