I liked it for middle school and high school. By then you may have very specific questions and at least at a couple schools, I got a chance to speak to the actual person who would have the real answers. I also liked the chance to talk with students about their experiences, like "The website said this and this are offered. Did you find most kids got the classes they wanted? Which classes have you taken and what were they like?" This was very helpful for my kids to hear and for the most part I felt like the students were very candid about their experiences. My kids could also ask questions about where else the ambassador kids applied.

For preK, it seemed more important to actually see the space and get a feel for the environment and teachers, so open houses were better for me then.[/quote]

This. I have a middle schooler and elementary schooler and this feel totally correct.
