Davis/thomas WV! We've done airbnb cabins in both, but the state park has more rustic cabins too. https://wvstateparks.com/things-to-do/blackwater-falls-sled-run/
+1 The sled run at Blackwater Falls is so fun. You should buy tickets in advance because they only sell a certain amount per reservation time. The limited sledders per time slot keeps it from being crowded and you are sledding the whole time. White Grass is also nearby for cross country skiing. You can rent skis there and begin on the snow farm.
Blackwater Falls sledding!!! Google for images and videos and your mind will be blown
This is nice. I'll look into Lake Placid, too . I'm also thinking about trying to find a place where you can get a cabin and have hills for sledding on without crowds. Don't need to have a lift. Maybe also be cheaper if there's not a huge ski resort in the area. Snow with some elevation changes and nature but without all the expensiveness and ski perks?
