Our DD took the WISC and scored a FSIQ of 128. Her GAI was 136 and the psychologist said she calculated it because she scored significantly lower on processing speed tasks because she was extremely methodical and distracted when going through the tasks and that she thought it was likely an underestimation of her true abilities. What score will AAP look at?
Truthfully they don’t consider the WISC much. My child was in the 99th percentile and it didn’t help him get into AAP. He got in a few years later. His overall score was 135 I think.
Wow really? Who is getting into this if not 99% kids?
That was 1 individual experience. Make the best case for why your child isn’t getting what they need in the regular classroom and why they need AAP. use the WISC to help support your argument but don’t make it THE argument. A WISC certainly helped our appeal but it was supported by all the other info in the packet.
