I don't post very often but came on here to encourage those who get in by lottery to accept their offers. My child finished there recently (past couple of years) and the instruction was phenomenal. I didn't fully appreciate how good it was until high school. My child's critical thinking, writing and organizational skills honed at Eastern has made high school classes a breeze. I had misgivings during the middle school years, in part due to the workload and unevenness of the cohort, but now I can definitively say the magnet curriculum and instruction outweighs all else.
+1. EMS magnet IDRP project and program in general made not only HS a breeze, but Ivy college and grad school were also a breeze. Many teachers over those years praised her writing and gave her top class marks. Also has benefitted her professionally. Three weeks before starting at the magnet, DC threw a tantrum and said she didn't want to go. We said she had to, because we knew it would be a good fit. By the end of the first semester, she loved it. That decision is one that DC herself now cites as most impactful (in a positive way) in her academic life, and one of the few where she openly admits parents were right and kid was wrong.
