IMO, the greens are better at Whitetail for beginners to learn.
I second this. I learned to ski as an adult and much prefer the beginner area at Whitetail with a progression to sidewinder over the beginner area at liberty. But both have incredible instructors that will be great for your kids so pick whichever works for you.
I’m the PP above and we taught DS at Whitetail. The beginner area is off to the left, its own area, and separate from the rest of the mountain so you don’t have to deal with non-beginners. Agree that sidewinder is a great long run as the next progression. Then lastly, snow park is a great challenging green to finish the progression. I also think the blues at Whitetail is much better then Liberty. More runs, longer, steeper and more challenging. Prepares your kid better for the next progression to black.
I was likely a more cautious beginner because I learned as an adult, where kids tend to be fine pushing limits and pizza-ing down a slope, but I would hit the blues at liberty before the ones at WT. WT blues are pretty steep for beginners and more of blacks. Then again the entry into the blues at liberty (upper heavenly) is more of a s-show with lots of beginners wiping out.
PP here. Yes, if your goal is slow and steady and cautious then agree blues better at Liberty. Short runs, less steep, less challenging. Our goal was to get DS to be decent on the blues here so he could go out west and WT definately better for that since more challenging. We took him to Breckenridge for his 1st time out west and he did fine on their blues.
