I recently had surgery to remove lymph nodes under my right arm. I realized I am not going to easily be able to brush and dry my hair for awhile. After having my husband try to help a couple times, I went to my hairdresser and asked her to cut it to just below my shoulders (was mid back). The picture I showed her was also clearly below shoulders after being styled. She chopped it to nearly to my chin - and that’s with it completely straight. I hate it. Like, wanted to cry all day yesterday and was up all night dreading seeing it in the mirror again. It makes my nose look huge and my hair look thinner than it already did. I teach middle school, and they’re savages, so that’s also going to be fun. On top of that, I’m mad at myself for spending so much on custom color when it’s now chopped so short it feels like it doesn’t even matter. Words of advice or commiseration for getting through hating my hair for the foreseeable future? Vitamins to help it grow faster?
So, the same thing happened to me at the beginning of April - I showed the hairdresser several photos of how long I wanted my hair and she cut it much shorter. I was very bummed. Seven months later, it is exactly how I wanted it cut in April (not sure if that is helpful to you or makes it worse, but at least there is a timeline). So about 4 inches in 7 months. In the interim, I wore my hair in a ponytail quite a bit and bought clip-in hair extensions that I occasionally wore with my hair down, but more often wore with my hair up, to give me more of a ponytail. I tried Vegamour shampoo and didn't notice a difference. I did start oral minoxidil. I'm not sure if that helped with growing faster, it was more because my hair was thinning. If you had lymph nodes removed, you are probably dealing with some health issues. I was, too. I know it's "just hair," but when you are going through other things happening to your body, it's just a bummer when you have to deal with hair issues, too. You have my sympathy.
