Thanks! Sounds like we should stay in LA instead of Pasadena? We are planning on doing Joshua tree and visiting Caltech. Do we need a car for anything besides these or is uber sufficient if staying in LA?
My DD just graduated from UCLA so I spent a lot of time in LA over the past four years. Pasadena is lovely but you'll spend HOURS in your car sitting in traffic every day. We went to many UCLA football games at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena and traffic on the 405 and the 101 are horrible. I would stay on the west side of LA. You will definitely need a car the whole time. The PPs have given good suggestions. I would add the Academy Awards museum if you are movie lovers - especially the Godfather. Food is amazing in LA - Mexican, Italian and any Asian cuisine (the Sawtelle area is packed with small, mostly Japanese places that are excellent). Korean BBQ is also a must. Joshua Tree is very cool and Palm Springs is definitely worth a visit. Have a great time - now that my DC has moved to NYC I really miss my visits to LA.
Very helpful! What is the west side of LA? Any particular areas we should look for?
West LA= Westwood, Brentwood, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, Century City, Venice, Culver City, Westchester, El Segundo, Manhattan Beach. (NP)
Thanks a lot!
