My DD wants to enroll in online summer P.E. So that she can still take languages in high school and her other preferred electives—how and when do we sign up for online P.E. in FCPS?
We signed up last-year in May - I think that's when the summer registration begins. We let the counselor know and after signing up she freed a spot for DD to add another class. Also, we did need a fitness watch (fitbit, apple watch, etc.) to track the mandatory daily heart-zones.
Thank you from OP! I wasn't sure when or how to sign up and wanted to make sure we don't miss the window or find out it's already full. Haven't been super happy with communication from the middle school and haven't heard a peep from the high school yet about next year (9th grade). Also we are looking at summer enrichment programs for DD who rightly pointed out that they want to do summer P.E. but not sure if she can while at an intensive summer camp so trying to get my ducks in a row. Thank you!
Ask your counselor if there is an alternative summer P.E. program that is not the regular fcps one that your child can take so that she can also do the intensive summer camp (answer: there is. You just have to know to ask for it. It’s entirely online asynchronous and is much faster and less time consuming than the one that requires a fit but and daily synchronous checkins)
Do you know the name of the not intensive summer PE camp or what organization runs it? DS is in 7th grade this year but I have pretty much resigned myself to his not being able to do summer PE because he has various camps that he loves to do that prevent him from taking summer classes. I am fine with that for the most part because I don’t like the idea of compacted classes but PE is one that wouldn’t have a problem with him knocking out and making space for an elective.
