One thing to note: I had a kid who played varsity as a freshman and in hindsight, I wish I had understood what it meant socially. It means 14-year-olds are at parties with 18-year-olds, hearing about locker room conversations with seniors, etc. It is isolating if your kid is the only freshman on varsity, and can get the kid into situations that aren’t great for a freshman. I’m not saying not to do it, but it can be a strange social dynamic. [/quote]
