Nysmith is not really focused on 2e…
Not focused on, but they can handle both support and acceleration. There’s really not any school that is *focused* on 2e. There are a number of schools that specialize in one or more types of ND, but many of those cannot challenge a gifted child. It depends to a degree what the “2” is and what kind of support is needed.
Just continuing my own train of thought, depending on what your kid needs, you might be best served by finding a school that can support and possibly remediate (depending on the diagnosis) whatever the ND is, and supplement with outside math and science enrichment. For our 2e (dyslexia, mild ADHD), a Montessori environment that allowed for pullouts with an O-G reading specialist for the early years (to 5th) and then a mainstream school with an excellent academic center was a very successful route.
Can you kindly let me know what that mainstream school with an excellent academic center was?
Congressional. It’s in VA and the director has changed since my DC was there, so our experience may be out of date, but for those in NoVA I highly recommend it. Not great for MoCo though, sorry.
