When you close the deal ask for it to be removed. If you want to avoid whining, ask for the dealer license plate frame instead.
This. I’ll never forget my dad telling the dealer (after 3 hours of negotiations) that if he came back the next day and a dealership decal was on the car, the deal was off. No down payment until he showed up to buy the car. I have done the same thing for 3 new cars now and haven’t had them flip on me yet.
I walked out of a sale because I told DARCARS I didn’t want their little sticker medallion thingy on the car I was buying. I was adamant (but good natured - at first) and we went back and forth for about five minutes. Then they brought in two other men who were supposed to be managers or something. They said it was “the law” that the car had to have the dealer name on it”. I got up and walked out without another word. It wasn’t even about the sticker at that point, but rather that they thought I was stupid enough to believe them.
I always ask for it to be removed or never placed on the car. Never had any issue and dealer was happy to oblige. That is insanity. I would have lost it.
