OP, depends on what your friend likes. I could imagine finishing a half marathon could be a big deal for her, so maybe a gift is appropriate. For a more seasoned runner, they might run that sort of distance faster than 99% of the population on Sunday every week and just want some help getting home or even just a coffee at the finish line.
