While I wish that the teacher had actually talked to her and/or me rather than using the interim report card as a warning, I also get that she’s managing a class with a ton of diverse learners and talking to every parent at any moment where intervention of any kind is needed isn’t realistic. The grades DID prompt a good solutioning session both between me and the teacher, and importantly, between my kid and the teacher separately, and provided a really important moment to talk to our kid about the importance of effort and attention/focus.
