Wording's a bit vague, and I'm not Catholic, but I think almost any a theistic religious person can agree to pray for Donald Trump at soul. No matter what you think of him, he's a major figure at the moment, and the course of his life affects all of us. Trusting God with a prayer to move Trump to a better position is a religiously a good thought.
I'm Catholic, at a more sane parish. Like about half of American Catholics who vote, I will vote for Harris. I have never voted for Trump, and never will. When Trump was President, we prayed for him every Sunday, because praying for the leaders is something you do. But in my mind, that was praying for him to be given wisdom, for his hand to be guided for good. That's very different from praying for someone's "intentions" which is basically praying for what he's praying for. My assumption is that, if Trump prays at all, he's praying to be elected, and I'm not praying for that. I'll also say that while I believe abortion should stay legal, I think that Trump's intention when he was stacking the supreme court had nothing to do with reducing abortion, and everything to do with "owning the libs" and essentially buying prolife votes. So, even if I believed that the state should limit abortions, I still wouldn't have prayed for Trump's "intentions".
Praying for Trump while president is not against the rules. Praying for 1 candidate during an election is against the rules of the church. It’s plain and simple. They also can’t pray for Harris. Trump defunded every program that helped poor mothers so yea he’s not prolife , but that’s not even the point. The church has rules and guidelines and the parish should remove the person who broke the rules.
