There are far more girls applying to liberal arts colleges today. Most boys prefer larger universities or are interested in the STEM majors - engineering, CS, pre-med. Plus, there are fewer boys that are college ready these days. Ergo, any boy that wants to be a humanities major at a small liberal arts college is going to have an advantage over girls. Because there just aren't very many of them. But a girl interested in engineering or CS will have an advantage over boys at most universities that continue to try to maintain 50-50 parity.
