https://www.reddit.com/r/dumbphones/ The phones people post have varying levels of functionality. There are also apps that will turn a smartphone into a dumb phone. Like you most people still want text and email but not social media. But sometimes people need other apps for practical reasons (my work requires me to have an authenticator app on my phone to log in to my work software for instance) so sometimes turning a smart phone dumb is easier because it allows you to get rid of the time suck apps while retaining stuff that is just practical but doesn't encourage smartphone addiction. And I was surprised when I started reading this subreddit that there are quite a few companies basically manufacturing and selling "dumb phones" explicitly for this purpose and there is even a subculture with its own aesthetics for people who want this. Like one thing people talk about on the forum is the idea that colorful graphics contribute to phone addiction so you'll see a lot of the phones have grayscale interfaces or apps that turn the phone grayscale which is interesting -- I had not thought about this until reading about it but I do think a black and white interface makes the phone less engaging and thus less addictive. Anyway: welcome to the movement.
