Run the risk of having two in the house? Just get both the same sex so they don’t reproduce and there is no risk.
haha. They somehow get adopted. I agree this is only a $10 problem that can get fixed but I think OPs point is why force a parent to get yet another. Less plastic, less headache for some families is the point. I have 3 girls, we bought only one, but the school gave my two girls each one. I can't remember if they were new either because I think one had a name of another kid that either pulled out of school or came for only a while. But somehow a silent adoption program is in place or they have reproductive skills. We have maybe 7 now in our house now, left maybe by friends bringing theirs during sleep overs, or my kids accidentally bringing their friend's. Who knows. Its goes into this drawer in the basement but somehow it gets found by other kids that visit our house. (church groups, nieces, neighbors visiting.) Its blown into, brought out to the garden, thrown around by the boys like swords, played by other girls to the tune of fortnight on the recorder with spit that drips out the other end etc and then it goes back in the drawer. I don't wash them and somehow other parents think its fine for their kids to take someone else's recorder, blow into it when they come over but yet on DCUM and schools, it is like such a big deal to even share with a sibling! So we let them be. gross as it is, i have never seen any kid get sick so if it entertains them and their parents. I just let it be. I can live with the shrill for the day.
