Before you accuse me of bragging I will also note that even when you have a kid like mine who jumps ahead in K, other kids catch up quickly once reading clicks. Lots of kids who were not reading at all in K are now reading about the same level as my DD in 3rd. Early reading is kind of a party trick-- it seems like a big deal and the time to have a 4 yr old who is reading but then later everyone can read and it doesn't matter who did it first.[/quote]
