Many times. As about guaranteed playing minimums, if you need to supply your own shorts and socks. Current level of play and strength of their bracket. Don't ever kick in for fees if you are a guest. No one has ever asked. Tell your daughter to go in with confidence, be coachable, learn the team formation and attacking or defensive style. If local, DO attend a few trainings with before as you can so your kid learns everyone's names. Also if it is local, consider they might be soft poaching you for future yeara.
Agree 100% on all the above except fees. If they seek you out to be a ringer, then yes, they’re covering your portion of the tournament fee. But that is typically an explicit agreement. Ie. “Our CB is out sick, we need a solid CB to win this bracket, and it’s short notice, can Billy help?” If it’s you asking to guest, or if it’s a team being formed for the tournament and you’re invited you pay for your share. And if you’re invited for a tournament team and not part of their program or club then you typically pay your portion of the tournament fee, and you may have a “guest player” fee for the brand / club if playing under a banner. Those are normal costs. And just because you think little Billy or Susie is one of the top 3 or 4 kids, it doesn’t mean you ride for free. That said, many times the guest player fee is negotiable. There are legitimate reasons for the guest player fee though, so just keep in mind you’re really asking the club to pay it on your behalf, not to “waive” it.
