I will preface this by saying that I am a big fan of rec soccer generally, and having kids play closest to home/wherever’s most convenient. That said, my kids have been playing soccer for years at multiple clubs, and PWSI has a reputation for having awful parents (not directing this at you, obviously). I’ve witnessed it firsthand and was horrified. All that said, I don’t think going to management would do a single thing. Feel awful for the rest of the team, but you should have zero qualms about pulling your kid from that game.
Sadly, I know going to PWSI management would not do anything. Last year a bunch of coaches went to the m and complained about this team and they did nothing. Unfortunately, I think my kid’s coach would have too much pride to forfeit the game. He’s a great coach so I don’t mean that in a bad way. I think I am going to pull my son from the game and reach out to a parent on the all star team to ask her to talk to the coach before playing our team. I am worried about the kids with special needs and just want to make sure he’s aware of the situation. It can be an opportunity for them to win using great technique instead of aggression.
Good for you. No reason to ever let your kid be a punching bag for thugs. And if the game isn't remotely competitive, the only lesson to be learned is that soccer is not fun.
