Many believe that it is reinforcing the idea that violence is an appropriate way to let out frustration. It can be more beneficial in the long term to work on more adaptive coping strategies. Or, if a child needs a physical outlet, give them something physical but non-violent (trampoline, jumping jacks). Yes, redirecting aggression to appropriate objects instead of people is progress, but can reinforce physical acting out.[/quote]
