I’ve been reading about the political misinformation that is pervasive on Twitter / X. If Musk at some point were legally found guilty of deliberately spreading misleading information, could the penalties for a naturalized citizen include revoking citizenship? Would the penalties for a crime with political consequences be any different from the penalties for other types of crimes?
I looked it up and yes, if someone were to be working for a foreign government or if they commit an act of treason. Musk has been going dangerously close to active disinformation (there was something specific recently; I can’t remember what it was but it was above his usual poop posting), but in the climate in which Trump and Ginni Thomas and all the other ringleaders of the insurrection have essentially gone unpunished, I can’t see anything happening to Musk. He’s a wretched person though and obviously not loyal to the US. https://www.forbes.com/advisor/legal/immigration-law/can-us-citizenship-be-revoked/#:~:text=For%20naturalized%20citizens%2C%20revocation%20of,a%20result%20of%20your%20service
