Has anyone had real high triglyceriddes and cholesterol and successfully gotten them down into the normal range through lifestyle modifications alone and what kind of changes did you make and how strict? How long did it take to get to normal? I don’t want to go back on statins because I had some bad neuropathy last time I was on them. I’ve been considered ‘pre diabetic’ for the past 10 years too. Weird thing is my bmi is in the high normal range so technically not overweight but doc says to lose 10%.
Nope, not me. Extreme decrease on statin, right back up off it despite greatly improved diet and exercise. I was also briefly in diabetes range, came down to pre-diabetes range, at which point doctor agreed to discontinue the statin. I was going to ask about a non-statin alternative; but the doctor quickly said I didn't need to take cholesterol medication since diabetes was no longer significantly increasing risks. Do you have other risks for heart disease? If so, ask about non-statin alternatives.
