What's wrong with a pair of adidas or other lightweight moisture wicking pants? Granted, they will melt to your skin if plane catches fire, but thats a pretty long tail risk.
OMG. I went through a phase (lasted more than a decade, I'm embarrassed to say) during which I was obsessed with wearing only natural fibers on planes for fear of synthetics melting to me in a fire. I'm more chill about it now. This was prompted by reading an article about that specific risk then remembering that when I was a kid in the '70s my dad's cousin had her polyester shirt melt to her skin in a kitchen accident. She was deep frying french fries at the stove, and her German shepherd jumped against her back causing the hot oil to spill all over her arm, melting the shirt into her skin. I've never worn shorts on a plane, regardless of the season or destination. Planes are always too hot or too cold. I'd freeze in shorts.
