Even newer buildings have HVAC issues that can attributed to the energy saving measures. Then, McPS will turn off the heat or AV from 6pm-6am and wonder why it takes 6 hours to actually change the temp of a building. These huge fluctuations in temp and humidity damage school equipment, especially musical instruments. Then, McPS won’t give schools enough money to fix the things broken due o their negligence!
Yes, I worked in a new mcps school building (built in last 10 years) & during the hot weeks of May & June, it was so uncomfortable during the school day. It was so humid that paper was damp. By the last hour or so of the day, things would finally feel on the more comfortable side due to the ac being on for several hours & then it’s time to go home & a/c is again shut off over night. I can’t imagine how bad it must be in the older schools.
