Your response is total crap. Rules were changed to align with international standards of play. This will make college soccer 1000% better. Now do the same with the women.
DP. No it does not make the game better. Did you watch the Euros? I want the best players on the field the legs to run. Unlimited subs with return specially with how many games the pros play.
There is no return to play in any level of professional soccer. It was nuts that we had U13 substitution rules that were more strict than 25 year olds playing college soccer. I'm actually for the return to play at younger levels and that leniency should dissipate as you get closer to professional level.
I'm with you. College soccer should mirror professional rules. And, I think the same substitution rules are too strict at younger ages. For my son, next season at U15, there is no reentry. I think this is too restrictive for 14 year olds, especially when some haven't gone through puberty. The kids should still be getting game time to develop and this is another way the system slants the playing field toward early developing players. At 14, the coach's choice shouldn't be restricted to 70-90 minutes for some kids, and 20-0 minutes for others. No reentry per half seems reasonable for u15 and u16 and no reentry seems right for for U17 when the kids are 16 and fairly level at their development stage.
