This hurricane looks like going to be a very strong one very quickly. Having just returned from the Caribbean, I really feel for all the staffs at the hotel we stayed in and all of the natives who will get affected. Not a helpful post I know , just saddened.
I'm glad you are concerned about climate change. Next time you book a vacation to the Caribbean, check the CO2 footprint of your flight. If you flew economy class from DC to Puerto Rico, your footprint is about 1500 pounds of CO2. For business class, it would be nearly 4500 pounds. Do you have any plans to offset these emissions? Waiting for the government or industry to offer a solution doesn't make a lot of sense if you truly care about this issue. Demonstrate that the issue matters to you by (1) evaluating your annual CO2 footprint using an online calculator and (2) taking actions to reduce your footprint. CO2 associated with luxury goods and exotic vacations is the easiest to eliminate, since these things are not necessities. Your trip to the Caribbean, unfortunately, offsets somebody else's efforts to reduce CO2.
