You won’t be covered by either your normal auto insurance or the coverage provided by your credit card. So you’ll need to buy Turo’s overpriced insurance product. There was some rumbling on Reddit that USAA would offer an insurance rider that covers Turo that is pretty cheap to purchase a supplement to your normal policy. Not sure if it actually exists but maybe check there first.
Not correct. Our auto insurance covers all rental cars in USA and Canada, including Turo. I called them to specifically ask about this, and they said it would be covered.
Who is your insurer? For a long time the car insurers did not consider Turo a “car rental” because it was a car sharing service with cars owned by individuals. I haven’t done Turo in 18 months, so maybe the insurers are getting better about it. I’ve used it in Hawaii for day rentals - super convenient, no need to pay for parking at the hotel. Have also used it in SLC multiple times for ski trips so I had guaranteed AWD and snow rates tires. Again, really great.
