Agree with other commenters' sentiments that erasing your past pictures is sad. 1. Others may miss out on something not having pictures of you. As a daughter, I like seeing my parents when they were younger as it helps me know them as people - what they were like when they were growing up, newlyweds, etc - and appreciating them as individuals/a couple and not just "mom" and "dad." 2. I hate photos of me reminding me how much weight I've gained and how bad my hair coloring choices were, as well as all that big hair from the 80's - ugh!; but that's who I was and those photos serve as reminders and are the photos I have of me with my children. I like to think they would appreciate having pictures of themselves with their mother some day. I don't have any of me with my father who died when I was very young, or any with my mother when I was younger. I wish I did, regardless of how overweight she was. 3. Current boyfriends wanting to see your old photos - presumably because they know you've lost a lot of weight - sounds kind of weird. But if it's just a natural curiosity thing, I guess it's not necessarily the red flag it comes off as in your short post here. It is a natural curiosity for anyone to want to see pictures of their significant other from before the time they knew them (baby photos, school pictures, 80's hair, etc.) 4. I like the suggestion of just keeping them stored digitally somewhere so that you have them; but don't have to constantly see them if you don't want to (or show them to boyfriends if you don't want to). Once you get rid of them entirely, you will never get them back should you want or need to for some reason; but if you keep them, you are not obligated to ever look at them or access them and you won't ever risk regretting having destroyed them all. And I still would not eliminate those memories for others when you're gone just because you don't like the way you looked. How many of us really like how we look in most pictures for various reasons? I know I have avoided having my picture taken as much as possible these past several years because of my weight and how old I look. Yet even as I do so, I think how few pictures my kids will have of me. Maybe they won't care; but as I mentioned above, I wish I had those pictures of my parents. Congratulations on your weight loss. If it were me I'd keep at least a few of those old pictures to feel pride about what I've accomplished (and motivation to never go back!)
