These are our options for our 8 year old DD. Are either of these teams worth our time or money? We are feeling discouraged by the lack of options and that it’s mostly due to our lack of lacrosse knowledge. Neither of us played lacrosse growing up (although we were both very successful ball athletes in other sports), so didn’t realize these club teams are more or less set by the time the girls are in 3rd grade. Our DD is very athletic, has good stick skills, stellar defense, and is very fast. The issue seems to be that BLC 33 Blue is already stacked and established and she’s an unknown at this point. I would think BLC orange would be fine, but all I’m reading is that the B teams are just money grabs, so not sure it’s worth it if they aren’t truly interested in developing those players. Such a sad state we’re living in that you have to know and play the politics of these teams before the kids are even 10 years old. Anyway, if someone could advise, please. If we’re better off just doing a rec team, I want to hear that view as well.
If she’s still 8, couldn’t she do 2034? Those teams are just forming.
She turns 9 in July, so is a rising 4th grader even though she’s only a couple/few months older than girls playing 2034. Maybe? I don’t know how this works. It seems like it would be cleaner if it was done by age and not grade.
Hmm, not sure what the rules are for girls. Boys brought in an age rule this past year with a June 1 cut-off, but don't know if that applies to girls as well.
