It's used for 6th, 7th and 8th grade math placement.  It's also used by elementary math coaches for remediation and tracking to see who is likely to fail the SOL and what areas they need to be retaught or practice.[/quote]

But they took the end of year math test less than three weeks before the math SOL so how much remediation would be done? It appears my child also took it three times in the same week of May, getting the same score each time. Basic 6th grade math was a huge waste for my son -- in class they didn't get more than half way through what is tested on the SOL -- and he was bored with straight As in it. Which would make sense, because they didn't start post-5th grade material until February. If that test score keeps him out of advanced math next year, we will obviously parent advocate to have him moved up, but what a joke. As an aside, he has no scores for the reading since September.
