The grades really don’t matter. The high school courses do matter. They will appear on the student’s transcript. HS courses are semester based. CD = C for the semester and CE = D for the semester (DE = E, but doesn’t apply here if he got at least a C in 3rd quarter.) Courses can be retaken to improve the letter grade. If he has a D in one of the courses, he should definitely retake it during summer school this summer to raise the grade to at least a C. If he has semester Cs, I would let it go and focus on whatever the underlying issue is this summer. Courses taken in MS appear on the transcript, but the letter grade is only included in cumulative GPA if it helps the GPA.
