Why would you have to do anything but, nurture his love?  I mean you didn't do anything to create it, right?  But, if you push it than you could make him hate it. He's only in 3rd grade!  Relax a bit and enjoy the journey[/quote]

FWIW, I do think you can foster that love for Math without pushing it too hard.

MCPS Math usually stinks - Curriculum 2.0 was terrible and Eureka Math was super boring for my Math-loving kids.

I was SO grateful to have found alternatives that challenged them because otherwise that spark for Math would have simply fizzled out.

MCPS certainly doesn’t do any meaningful enrichment or encouragement in school for kids who have any Math talent so parents are on their own to figure it out.  [/quote]
