[b]UVA is ticked off at a higher tier than UMD, per med school admissions committees. UVA is "Tier 2" below Ivy/+ schools and Amherst, Williams, Swarthmore. UMD is the tier below. [/b]Undergrad is a small but meaningful factor in med admissions. They need to study hard and get highest grades possible once they transfer. [/quote]

Pure curiosity on my part.  How do you know that?  Is there an official list, or is that guess based on some undergrad ranking like usnews?
