I have been a big proponent for MYS for the girls teams, but this past year has been very rough for MYS. MYS Lost their ECNL team. This may not seem like much, but down the road, it will be important if you are serious about soccer. Your daughter could try out for FVU once ECNL comes around, but it is not the same as having a proprietary MYS ECNL team. Arlington has a built in ECNL team and a system that will place your daughter on the Arlington ECNL team if she is good enough.
Sorry that's not right... There was no "McLean" ECNL before now, it was Virginia Union for the past few years - McLean and SYC. Now it's FVU - McLean, BRYC and Vienna.. Its no different for McLean players on the girls side for the most part. All the 2011s we know stayed on ECNL, its just called FVU now.
My understanding is the original poster is correct. Virginia Union was a partnership with SYC but it was McLean’s ECNL charter. They called the shots. Now, it is FVU with all three clubs having equal rights for management etc. So I could be wrong but that is how it was explained to me.
